Bicycle connection - SeaSucker HUSKE

There are many different ways to mount bicycles on your car roof. It is essential to know what type of mounting your bike has before purchasing a SeaSucker bike carrier. After all, the bike is attached to the SeaSucker carrier in the same way the front wheel is attached to the bike.

Since 2019, all SeaSucker bike carriers have been equipped with the HUSKE system (Hub Standards Keep Evolving). This is a universal system that is compatible with the most common front fork mounts. Because the connectors are interchangeable, you can adapt your SeaSucker to bikes with different mountings. Which connectors do I need? You can find the answer here.

What kind of connection does my bike have?

To help you quickly determine which type of connection your bike has, we have explained the most common ones below. Are you still having problems? Please feel free to contact us.

Quick - release

This is the most common connection for road bikes and is still widely used on older mountain bikes. When you remove the front wheel, you will see the fork cutout. Unlike all thru-axle variants, the quick release always has an opening at the bottom where the wheel is inserted. Hub caps and Huske quick releases are available in our shop.

Example of a quick release:

12 mm thru-axle

Since the introduction of disc brakes on road bikes, they have become standard equipment for this type of bike. The system works slightly differently than a quick release. It generally requires a separate axle that is mounted onto the threads of the front fork. 12 mm HUSKE end plugs are available in our webshop.

Example of a 12 mm thru-axle connection:

15 mm thru-axle

This is currently the standard for modern mountain bikes. 15 mm HUSKE end plugs are required for mounting. In this case, the axle used to secure the front wheel also serves to mount the bike.

15 mm Boost thru-axle

This is a variant of the standard 15 mm thru-axle. The Boost version uses a different mounting width. The standard 15 mm thru-axle has a mounting size of 100 mm, while the Boost version has a size of 110 mm. To make this system compatible with a SeaSucker, HUSKE Boost 15 x 110 mm end caps are required.

20 mm thru-axle

This is a less common variant of the thru-axle. It is primarily used on downhill bikes. In this case, the mounting width is also 110 mm. To mount a bike with 20 mm x 110 mm Boost thru-axles onto a SeaSucker, you need HUSKE Boost 20 x 110 mm plugs.
