On what surface can I place my SeaSucker?
It can be mounted on any surface that is smooth enough to create a vacuum. Metal and glass are fine; plastic also works if it is smooth. It cannot be mounted on textiles.
Does it matter how I attach my SeaSucker to the roof?
Yes, always position the bike rack so that the bike faces forward, with the front fork down. Placing it backward or to the side is dangerous and unsafe.
Can I also mount a SeaSucker bracket on the windshield?
Of course. Ensure there is sufficient clearance between the connecting bar and the windshield of the bike carriers. SeaSucker roof racks can be attached to the windshield with a maximum of one suction cup.
Do I need to clean the roof before installing a SeaSucker bracket?
Yes! The cleaner the surface, the better the adhesion. This applies to both the roof/window and the suction cups themselves. For the suction cups, ensure that the edges creating the vacuum are clean. If the edge is dirty or damaged, it will affect performance. Lightly moistening the surface and the suction cups makes installing SeaSucker products easier.
Can I also transport my mountain bike, gravel bike, or cyclocross bike with a SeaSucker?
Of course! Our bike carriers are suitable for bikes up to 20 kg. Bikes with thru-axles can also be transported on our carriers without any problems. Our bike carriers are equipped with a universal fork mounting system (HUSKE).
Can I also transport a bike with thru-axles on a SeaSucker bike carrier?
Of course! Our bike carriers are equipped with a universal mounting system for the front fork (HUSKE).
How much weight can my bike carry?
We recommend a maximum weight of 20 kilos per bicycle.
Can I bring my electric bike on a SeaSucker?
Our bike carriers are designed for road bikes and mountain bikes. Electric bikes are usually too heavy, but one electric bike can be transported if it is placed in the middle of a Mini Bomber without other bikes on the carrier. We also recommend removing the bike's battery to reduce the weight.
Are SeaSucker products also compatible with Teslas?
That is no problem at all; in fact, many Tesla drivers have already done it! Special instructions apply for the installation of SeaSucker roof racks on a Tesla Model 3.
My car is fitted with self-adhesive vinyl film; can I also use your product?
We advise against this method. The vacuum created by the glass is so strong that it can damage the film. Moreover, the adhesion of the glass then depends on the adhesion of the film to the roof.
My car has a panoramic sunroof; can I still use your product?
Naturally, the SeaSucker suction cups adhere perfectly to the glass. The only thing you shouldn't do is open the panoramic roof while driving.
Can a SeaSucker transporter damage my car's paintwork?
No, provided our product is used correctly. Simply ensure there is no dirt on the roof or mounting points when installing the roof rack. See also: "Do I need to clean the roof before installing a SeaSucker roof rack?"
Can the crank damage my roof?
No, every SeaSucker bike carrier comes with a Velcro strip that allows you to attach the connecting bar to the rear fork of the bike. This keeps the bar in place and prevents damage to the car roof.
How long does a SeaSucker conveyor belt stay in place?
We cannot set a time limit for this, as a number of factors influence it. For instance, the duration depends on the surface on which the cup is placed, the condition of the cup itself, the weight of the bike, and the temperature. As a general rule, the cleaner the surface and the cup, the better and longer-lasting the adhesion. We advise always checking the cups before departure, even if you have only stopped for a cup of coffee. As soon as you see a white or orange indicator line, this is the signal to press the pump a few times to restore the correct vacuum level. This way, you always have a warning before the cup loses pressure.
Does the sun affect a SeaSucker roof rack?
Not in the short term. SeaSucker cups have a specific compound that is highly resistant to UV radiation, among other things. As with practically every type of rubber/plastic, UV radiation has a negative effect on this material in the long term. We therefore advise keeping SeaSucker products out of the sun when not in use.
Can I use SeaSucker products when it rains?
Yes, absolutely. Installation is even easier in wet conditions. This is because the cups adhere better to a damp surface.
Can I use my SeaSucker in cold conditions?
No problem! Just make sure the roof is ice-free before mounting the cups. The products have been tested in environments down to -20 degrees Celsius.
How fast can I drive with my SeaSucker on the roof?
As fast as legally permitted on the road in question.
How do I remove a SeaSucker roof rack from my car?
The only thing you need to do to remove a SeaSucker product is to release the vacuum. You do this by placing your finger under the cup and then pulling it upwards. This specific action introduces air under the cup and breaks the vacuum. You can then remove the holder.
What is the best way to store my SeaSucker when I don't need it?
Each carrier comes standard with plastic protective caps mounted over the cups. When you are not using the SeaSucker, replace these protective caps over the cups. Ensure that the cups are inserted straight and fully. If, for example, an edge does not fit properly, there is a chance that the cup will deform after remaining in this position for an extended period. Rest assured, this is not permanent. Should this occur, remove the caps from the cups and place the carrier on a flat surface for a few hours. This allows the cups to regain their natural shape.
